This month, we are welcoming Fr. Cris Janson to our communuity. A member of the Marianists, Fr. Cris comes to us from his former position as Pastor of Holy Rosary Parish in San Antonio Texas.
Fr. Cris was born in Saint Louis Missouri. He is the second son, and third child, of fourteen, including twelve boys and two girls. His parents, Gregory and Emma, raised Emma’s sister’s six children as well as their own. He attended Immaculate Conception elementary school, taught by the Ursuline Sisters, in Arnold Missouri.
He later attended Saint Mary’s High School and Maryhurst High School. Fr. Cris completed undergraduate studies at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio Texas. He completed seminary formation with the Jesuits at Saint Louis University.
He was ordained as a Marianist in Saint Louis in 1973. He then taught High School in Victoria Texas, Milwaukee, Fort Worth, and Chicago. He spent sixteen years in Mexico, encouraging new vocations. He was pastor at Holy Rosary parish in San Antonio for 11 years. Last year, he did a sabbatical in Rome and in Berkeley California. This year, he was appointed associate Pastor at Saint Joseph.
