Cantors proclaim the psalm in song after the first reading at Mass. They also intone the Mass Acclamations, including the Gloria, the Gospel Acclamation and its verse, the “Sanctus” (Holy, holy, holy…), the “Mysterium fidei” (Mystery of faith), the Great Amen, and the “Agnus Dei” (Lamb of God). They are responsible for cueing and leading congregational singing. These music ministers need singing ability, clarity, conviction, and sensitivity to the texts, the musical settings, and those listening to the psalm and joining in song.
