Our History

The WSJF story began in the summer of 2013 with a small ministry team that met to determine if Saint Joseph Catholic Church (SJCC) should apply for an FCC permit to construct a low-power FM radio station. The team made an application in November 2014 and was awarded an FCC construction permit in June 2015. At the end of 2016, we requested an FCC permit extension until June 12, 2018. The Radio Ministry team raised funds, made compelling arguments to the SJCC Pastoral Council, and produced the necessary plans and documents during 2016 and 2017. The team acquired the necessary hardware in March and April 2018. We placed our antenna on a tower in Sykesville in mid-May 2018. In a live broadcast on June 3, 2018, our SJCC pastor blessed WSJF and the studio, and that week WSJF–LP began broadcasting 24/7/365. WSJF is the only parish-based Catholic radio station in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Our Ministry Team

The team supports the station by ensuring its broadcast quality; writing, recording, and producing “spots” for broadcast; and developing and producing original shows. All of the support work happens in the WSJF broadcast and recording studio in the lower level of the SJCC Parish Center.

Our Content

The FM broadcast can be heard within a 7-mile radius of the church in Eldersburg and includes local, home-grown programs and announcements, as well as content from Relevant Radio, a Catholic content provider (relevantradio.com). The broadcast includes Catholic news, talk radio, music, and prayer, including daily and Sunday Mass and the Rosary.

Our Podcast Service

The Radio Ministry Team maintains a podcast server at WSJF-radio.com/podcasts where you can find shows or episodes you may have missed or see what is available to listen to. These podcasts on the WSJF podcast server are also available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Fio.

Streaming LIVE

In June 2024, WSJF began streaming, and so the broadcast is available anywhere in North America and from many places around the world! You can start the stream playing by hitting the “Listen Live” button on this page, or play the stream at www.Live365.com and search for “WSJF” in the search box. Also, you can download the Live365 Radio app on your phone or tablet from your App Store, install and run the app, then search for “WSJF” to play the WSJF broadcast. In April 2025, we taught Alexa how to play the radio station content! Just tell your Alexa device, “Alexa, play WSJF 92.7” and the radio content will play.
