Should I register my Child for Confirmation?
Our Family Faith Formation program is designed to support your family’s spiritual journey—right in the midst of everyday life. We know that life is busy, and faith formation shouldn’t feel like just another item on your to-do list. Instead, it is a lifelong journey of growing closer to Christ, strengthening family relationships, and living your faith together.
Through engaging resources, meaningful conversations, prayer, and parish experiences, your family will have opportunities to learn, grow, and encounter Christ both at home and within our parish community.
Before You Register
Please read these instructions carefully before beginning your registration. Our registration process is slightly different this year, and following these steps will help ensure a smooth experience.
- Click the Registration button.
- Register ONLY the Head of Household.
- Although you will see an option to add another person during this step, please do not add anyone else on this form.
- Click Check Out and complete your payment.
After your payment has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to a second form. This is where you will provide information for each family member participating in the Family Faith Formation program.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this program for?
Family Faith Formation is open to everyone who wishes to grow in faith together as a family.
Each session begins with the entire family gathered together. During part of the evening, participants divide into age-appropriate groups:
- Adults remain together in Formation.
- Infants are welcome to stay with their parents in Formation.
- Children ages 15 months – age 4 may attend the nursery.
- Children kindergarten through 12th grade participate in age-specific sessions led by our catechists.
This format allows every member of the family to learn at an age-appropriate level while sharing the faith journey together.
Is there a fee for Family Faith Formation?
Yes. Family Faith Formation has a flat registration fee of $250 per family for the year.
This fee covers all faith formation materials and includes a hearty breakfast for your entire family at each Family Faith Formation gathering.
We believe every family should have the opportunity to grow in faith together. If the registration fee presents a financial hardship, please contact the Faith Formation Team at linka@saintjoseph.cc. Financial assistance is available, and we are committed to ensuring that no family is excluded because of financial circumstances.
Is this a drop-off program?
No. Family Faith Formation is not a drop-off program. This program is designed to help families grow in faith together. At least one parent or guardian must attend each session with their child(ren).
While one parent is required, we warmly welcome—and encourage—the entire family to participate! Please visit our Family Faith Formation Policies page for additional information.
My kids attend Catholic school. Where do we fit in?
While Catholic school kids are not required to attend Family Faith Formation to prepare for their sacramental prep year, our Catholic school families are still welcome and encouraged to be a part of this program! Family Faith Formation is all about being woven together in a net of support and encouragement as we all grow closer to Jesus and one another.
How does Family Faith Formation fit with First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion?
Family Faith Formation fulfills the annual faith formation requirement for children preparing to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
To enroll in sacramental preparation, a child must:
- Have completed the previous year of faith formation, and
- Be currently enrolled in and actively participating in faith formation during the current year.
This requirement may be met either by attending a Catholic school or by participating in our Family Faith Formation program.
Please note that sacramental preparation is a separate program from Family Faith Formation. Preparation sessions for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist and Confirmation are held outside of Family Faith Formation, require a separate registration and are completed primarily at home.
For complete details and registration information, please visit our Sacramental Preparation page.
