Sheen’s Colleens Cards Outreach: Reaching Out to Our Senior Friends

Thanks to your efforts SJCC, 1,061 lovingly made and prayed over cards were delivered to nursing home residents. These cards were made by members of St Joseph Catholic community and Sykesville/Eldersburg community including:

  • Catholic Daughters
  • Confirmation Classes
  • Daisy Troop 2370
  • ·Junior Catholic Daughter
  • Knights of Columbus #7612
  • Sheen’s Colleens
  • Faith Formation students
  • And many other anonymous young people and families of the Sykesville/Eldersburg community

Because of the huge response by our caring community, we had extra cards for 2 additional locations as well as the healthcare workers that care for their residents. Both residents and healthcare workers at these now 11 facilities greatly appreciate the love shown to them.

  • Birch Manor
  • Brinton Woods
  • Copper Ridge (Peak)
  • Fairhaven – ACTS
  • Golden Crest Assisted Living (2 facilities)
  • The Homestead (Sun Valley)
  • Transitions Oakland Manor
  • Sun Valley – The Meadows
  • Sun Valley – Assisted Living
  • Sun Valley – Overlook

In the packages of cards delivered, a prayer was added:

“Lord to give the residents and healthcare workers strength and peace during these difficult times of COVID so that they would not be sad, lonely or overwhelmed. Heavenly Father, let them know that in their hearts that they are loved by their extended community and most of all You.”

This card effort is led by the Sheen’s Colleens, a complement of women whose husbands and sons are members of the Fulton J. Sheen Council #7612 of the Knights of Columbus who engage in charitable functions with the focus of the Catholic family as their inspiration.
