Money Counting Team Overview

Mission:
The Money Counting Team serves the parish by ensuring the accurate, timely, and confidential counting and recording of all collections received during Masses and special events. This important behind-the-scenes ministry helps maintain financial integrity and stewardship within the parish.

Responsibilities:

  • Count and verify weekend and holy day collections.

  • Record totals on appropriate tally sheets or software.

  • Bundle and prepare deposits for the bank.

  • Follow all parish and diocesan financial protocols for handling funds.

Team Member Expectations:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity.

  • Be detail-oriented and comfortable handling currency and checks.

  • Work in pairs or small teams for accountability and accuracy.

  • Attend annual training or updates on procedures and diocesan policies.

  • Usually serve on a rotating schedule (e.g., once per month or as needed).

Time Commitment:

  • Typically 2-3 hours.

  • Flexible scheduling, based on the team’s needs.

Who Can Serve:

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Must be registered parishioners in good standing.

  • Needs full VIRTUS compliance
